Keeping tabs on hygiene

Frequent checks: Health Department officers inspecting the kitchen of a nasi kandar outlet in Penang Road

A NASI kandar restaurant in Penang Road and two eateries in Komtar were ordered to shut down for two weeks by the health authorities after they failed to meet the hygiene standards.

The restaurant and eateries were also slapped with compound notices under the Food Act 1983 during a joint operation by the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) and the state Health Department led by District Environmental Health chief assistant officer Wong Kee Poh.
