Lorry driver charged with murdering man at Jalan Horley


IPOH: A lorry driver was charged in the Magistrate's Court here on Thursday (Sept 4) with murder.

M.I. Saravanan, 32, nodded after the charge was read out to him before magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan.

However, no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Saravanan was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code with the murder of a man, known as Fendi, in an alley of a hotel building on Jalan Horley here last Wednesday (Aug 27).

He faces the death penalty or imprisonment for not less than 30 years and a maximum of 40 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane, if convicted.

There was no request for bail, and the court set Nov 4 for mention

Saravanan was represented by lawyer S. Vinesh, while the prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor S. Nishaalini. - Bernama
