Nearly 2,000 cops deployed across Johor for festive season traffic control

JOHOR BARU: Nearly 2,000 police personnel have been deployed across Johor to monitor traffic conditions throughout the festive season, says state police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar.

He highlighted that particular focus would be placed on the Causeway and Second Link.

"We anticipate heavy congestion at the Causeway and Second Link, with traffic volumes potentially doubling or even tripling due to the long weekend and festive season.

"As such, our officers have been stationed at these locations from today (March 28) as we expect a traffic surge ahead of the weekend and upcoming holidays," he said after attending a road safety advocacy programme at the Perling toll plaza here Friday (March 28).

Comm Kumar added that authorities have identified 47 congestion hotspots and 36 accident blackspots statewide, all of which will be closely monitored.
