Tuanku Muhriz graces Negri Deepavali open house


TAMPIN: Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir graced the state-level Deepavali open house at Dewan Arena Tampin on Saturday (Nov 23).

Also present at the event were the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud and their son, Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun greeted Their Royal Highnesses upon their arrival.

Aminuddin expressed his appreciation to nearly 6,000 visitors from diverse communities who attended this year's Deepavali open house, which commenced at midday on Saturday.

"This event is an excellent initiative to further fortify the relationship between leaders and the community. The response from the local community has been tremendous, and a vast array of delectable traditional Indian dishes were prepared for the visitors," he told Bernama.

Over 20 different dishes were served, including chapati, roti canai, lamb curry, puri, panipuri, satay, putu mayam, biryani rice, masala tea and cendol.

The event was further enriched by performances from local artistes, as well as traditional Indian dances and singing.

Additionally, more than 200 children received duit raya.

Visitor Mazlina Jaafar, 42, expressed her excitement at attending the celebration, citing such events as ideal for fostering closer ties among people. – Bernama
