Mohamed Khaled arrives in Turkiye for five-day working visit

ANKARA: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has arrived in Turkiye on Sunday (June 9) to begin his five-day working visit.

The minister, along with his delegation from the Defence Ministry, was greeted upon their arrival at Ankara Esenboga International Airport at around 10am local time by Malaysian Charge d’affaires in Ankara Clara Soon May Lynn and Turkish Officer-in-Attendance, Rear Admiral Nilufen Cotuk.

Mohamed Khaled’s visit, his first official visit to Turkiye since being appointed Defence Minister, aims to strengthen defence cooperation between both countries and attend the inaugural Malaysia-Turkiye High Level Committee (HLC) on Defence Cooperation.

The HLC would involve delegations from the Malaysian Defence Ministry and the Turkiye National Defense Ministry.

During his visit, Mohamed Khaled is scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Guler, and the Defence Industries Secretariat, an institution set up by the Turkish government to manage its defence industry and supply military technology.

He would also visit Turkish defence companies, such as Turkish Aerospace Industries, Aselsan and Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, as well as hold a meeting with Desan Shipyard.

Additionally, a government-to-government memorandum of understanding on the procurement of defence products would be signed, along with agreements of collaboration and partnerships between Malaysian and Turkish defence industry players. – Bernama
