PETALING JAYA: Medan 88 in Salak Tinggi, Sepang, will be under an enhanced MCO for two weeks starting Thursday (Nov 12), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Defence Minister said the order was imposed as the area had recorded 39 Covid-19 positive cases.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had visited the site Wednesday (Nov 11).
"Based on the Health Ministry's risk evaluation, the special meeting today has agreed to place Medan 88 in Salak Tinggi under enhanced movement control order (MCO) from Nov 12 to 25.
"It involves 88 units of shophouses, 284 premises and 800 residents.
"This is to enable the Health Ministry to carry out targeted screenings and contain local transmissions," he said.
Only premises selling essential items would be allowed to operate, he said.
Ismail also announced that the enhanced MCO at Pangsapuri Mutiara Kasih and Taman Khazanah Indah in Lahad Datu had been lifted today (Nov 11), earlier than the scheduled Nov 23 deadline, as no new cases were detected over the last 18 days.
The enhanced MCO was first imposed on Oct 13, and extended twice to Nov 9 and later to Nov 23.
"The enhanced MCO was extended pending the test results.
"Until Nov 10, the Health Ministry found that the second screening involving 5,189 samples had all returned negative," he told a press conference Wednesday.
Ismail also announced that the enhanced MCO at Penjara Reman and Kuarters Penjara Reman in Penang had ended Wednesday.
The authorities had initially imposed the enhanced MCO in the area from Oct 15 to Oct 28, but had extended it to Nov 11.
Of the total 1,178 people screened in the area, 189 had tested positive.
The last Covid-19 positive case was recorded in the area on Nov 5.
Ismail said lockdown orders could be lifted early if the affected community strictly followed the SOPs to quickly break the chain of transmission.
