Better access to Dataran Merdeka needed

There needs to be people- friendly access to Dataran Merdeka (pic) in Kuala Lumpur to facilitate visits.

People currently do not fully enjoy our Independence Square for numerous reasons.

There are no designated Dataran Merdeka bus-stops.

This forces people to travel there by car or motorcycle.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) should stop pandering to tour companies.

Tour buses should not park within the square, in violation of traffic rules.

People are inconvenienced by these tour buses which also cause pollution.

Ensure easy access for tourists to the square by stage bus and train.

When the “no vehicle” rule is applied on the weekends, it should apply to all including food trucks and government vehicles.

People suffer the fumes of these vehicles when the latter’s engines are left running while stationary.

Addressing these issues will enable Malaysians and visitors to better enjoy our national heritage site.
