THE Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre (JCPAC) is set to help Malaysia nurture more art talents while building a more culturally vibrant society, says Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah.
He said the official launch of JCPAC marked the fulfillment of his vision to establish a centre dedicated to arts and culture to further enrich the education ecosystem in Bandar Sunway, a township in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
"I always believe that a holistic approach to education must place equal emphasis on science, technology, engineering, maths, arts and humanities subjects.
"Qualities such as imagination and creativity set us apart from machines.
"Arts and humanities education can help nurture these qualities, developing young people into well-rounded individuals.

"A great nation and a flourishing city are measured not only by their buildings, but also by their soul.
"Arts and culture are important for providing that soul to cities and nations.
"When art flourishes, people flourish, and we can build a stronger and more vibrant society," he said in his keynote address during JCPAC's launch on Oct 16.
Guests at the event were entertained by a symphonic Broadway tribute, titled "Brand New Day," featuring more than 100 artistes performing beloved songs from some of the musical stage's greatest hits.
Among JCPAC's features is a grand theatre with 1,200 seats designed for large-scale performances.
