Park with musical fountain, man-made lake, jogging trail a tourist draw, says exco
SETIA Fontaines Heritage Park has the potential to become a recreational and tourism attraction in northern Seberang Perai, says Penang tourism committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.
He said the park, spanning some 40.47ha and featuring a 25.50ha man-made lake, lush green landscapes and a musical fountain, offered visitors another reason to explore Bertam in Kepala Batas.
“The park is not merely a space for recreation. It is a destination that can be enjoyed by the community,” he said during the launch.
Wong said the initiative by developer SP Setia Bhd not only added value to the Setia Fontaines development but also contributed to the wider development of Kepala Batas and Seberang Perai Utara.
He said such efforts aligned with the Penang2030 aspiration of improving liveability and quality of life for residents, while expanding the tourism experience beyond the island.
“Through close cooperation between the state government, local authorities, private sector, relevant agencies and local community, Setia Fontaines Heritage Park can grow into an attraction that complements Penang’s diverse tourism products.”
Wong added that the presence of such a destination could generate a positive spillover effect on local economic activities.

Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib launched the park, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, Seberang Perai mayor Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid, Pinang Tunggal assemblyman Bukhori Ghazali, Penang State Secretary Datuk Dr Jafri Abdul Jalil and S P Setia president and chief executive officer Datuk Zaini Yusoff.
Zaini said the opening of the neighbourhood park marked an important milestone for Setia Fontaines and reflected the developer’s continued commitment to Penang.
“A township is not merely about homes; it is about creating spaces where families can gather, communities can connect and memories can be made.”
He added that the park supported Penang’s growth agenda by providing quality public spaces and creating future economic opportunities in the area.
Located at Lingkaran Setia in Bandar Setia Fontaines, the park is open daily from 6am to midnight and features a 4.1km jogging track.
Among its main attractions is a 3m-deep man-made lake and 100m-long musical fountain capable of shooting water jets 30m high.
The fountain operates from Friday to Sunday, between 6pm and 10pm.
Other highlights include the Kingfisher Bridge, Fountain of Peranakan, Serenity Plaza, Playland of Nusantara, Straits of Nusantara, Isle of Hibiscus and a 180m-long heritage-themed mural wall.
The 100m-long Kingfisher Bridge is named after the bird species regularly spotted in the area.
The park’s 180m-long mural wall themed “Penang Heritage” was created through a competition involving 18 secondary schools from all five Penang districts.
Developed in phases since early 2020, the park – which has been open to the public since October 2021 – is equipped with 24-hour security, including drone surveillance and auxiliary police patrols.
