CREDIT Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC) hopes Budget 2027 will include stronger support to help Malaysian businesses strengthen their finances and expand overseas.

CGC chief business officer Sean Tan said in a social media post that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as mid-tier companies faced rising costs and increasing competition.

He said conditions also posed challenges to sustaining their businesses.

Access to financing remains essential to keep businesses operating, fund growth and expand, said Tan.

"Financing also helps businesses seize new opportunities and enter overseas markets."

He said Malaysian businesses have opportunities to compete internationally but needed continued support to expand.

These issues, he said, were discussed during Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong’s visit to CGC’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

According to Tan, Liew shared about government strategies to help local businesses become globally competitive.

“With the right support, the right opportunities and the courage to take the next step, Malaysian businesses can go further,” said Tan.

“We hope to see continued support and stronger initiatives that enable Malaysian businesses to build resilience, scale their operations, compete globally and create greater value for our economy,” he added.
