Budget 2027: Govt raises financing and guarantee facilities to RM57bil

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will increase total loan and financing guarantee facilities to RM57bil in 2027 from RM50bil previously, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) would provide an additional RM5bil in financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by the conflict in West Asia.

He said BNM had initially allocated up to RM5bil for affected SMEs, but strong demand had prompted the central bank to double the facility to RM10bil.

Meanwhile, the BPMB Group will allocate RM7bil across seven strategic sectors to support high-impact industries and key economic sectors, including renewable energy, logistics, aerospace and semiconductors.

Anwar said Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Bhd (SJPP) and Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC) would provide up to RM32bil in financing guarantees next year.

SJPP's coverage will be expanded to include mid-tier companies across all sectors, with the guarantee limit raised to RM50mil.

Of the total, RM1bil in SJPP guarantees will be earmarked to support the expansion of local companies through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
