Sale of artworks, silent auction at KL mall to raise funds for charity

A charity initiative, Art4Good: Painting from the Heart, will take place at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 14 to 18.

It aims to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable communities, with over 120 paintings put up on display and available for purchase.

Former International Trade and Industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz is scheduled to launch the event on Oct 14 at 7.30pm, while also contributing eight of her own artworks for the silent auction.

The exhibition is led by principal artist Yeow Teck Chai, contributing nearly 100 works, while other guest artists are Yoon Choi Wan, Tan Ken Ming, Winsen Loke and Oon Soon Keat.

Proceeds will directly benefit two non-profit organisations: Free Food Society (FFS) and Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH).

FFS provides food aid and tuition support to 85 underprivileged families in Desa Rejang, Setapak, helping 100 primary and secondary students stay in school.

SSMH operates a specialised training centre in Petaling Jaya, delivering tailored physical, speech and occupational therapy to children.

Exhibiting student artist Winsen, who receives rehabilitative care at SSMH, has used his art sales to fund a customised wheelchair – exemplifying the exhibition’s mission to foster independence and empower lives through art.

The exhibition at the BSC Main Concourse will be open from 10am to 10pm.
