A THREE-DAY science education carnival in Terengganu concluded with a glow-in-the-dark fun run that drew 1,538 participants.

Many families with children joined the 2.8km run held in conjunction with the Sains, Teknologi, Inovasi dan Matematik Terengganu (STEMT) Festival at the Pusat Sains & Kreativiti Terengganu (PSKT), Kuala Terengganu.

For 46-year-old Nik Azuraida Nik Jusoh, who took part with her children, the event offered a chance to spend time together.

“The excitement is definitely there, especially as this was a new experience for our family taking part in a run at night.

“Programmes like this should be repeated in future editions,” she said.

Another participant, Tengku Aminuddin Tengku Sulong joined the run with friends while taking advantage of the school holiday to return to his hometown.

“I happened to be back home for the holidays and found out about the programme, so I came with some friends,” he said.

PSKT chief executive officer Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahim said, “Although the run was only a side activity of STEMT, the positive feedback, particularly from parents and guardians who came with their children, has been encouraging.”

STEMT featured various activities centred on science, technology, innovation and mathematics, with participation from relevant industry players.
