Raisha Adelia Rezza, 12, extended her winning streak from 2025 with two more qualifying round titles at the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC) 2026 Qualifying Round 6 in Sarawak.
The SK Samarahan Estate pupil who captured the girls’ under-11 singles title last year in Kuching, added two more gold medals at the end of a strong weekend in Miri.
She secured the singles and doubles crowns in the girls’ under-13 categories.
In the doubles, she partnered Samantha Tsin Rou Yii from SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor.
“It has always been my expectation to win the under-13 titles after winning the under-11 crown last year,” said Raisha Adelia, who was runner-up in the girls’ under-13 doubles in 2025.
“I will have another chance to play in the grand finals this year, that is something I’m really looking forward to.
“I know the level required, so these next few months of preparation will be important,” she said.
She was introduced to the sport by her grandfather when she was eight.
Just two years later, after receiving formal training at G Force BA in Serian, she became a Sarawak state player.
“I believe that I’m on the right track as far as my dream of becoming a world champion is concerned.
“At the moment, I’m playing in both the singles and doubles events.
“I have not decided yet which one I will focus on more,” she said.
In the girls’ under-15 categories, Rosella Tania Anak Rant @ Rantie from SMK Dato Permaisuri also landed a double.
After winning the singles crown, she went on to partner Aizalea Izzara Kamarulzaman of SMK Three Rivers to bag the doubles title.
Darrick Ong Shang How from SMK Kuching High dominated the boys’ under-15 categories.
Darrick sealed a convincing victory in the singles and then teamed up with Eldrin Tan Ka Fei of SMK Green Road to wrest the doubles crown.
Meanwhile, Danice Tchin Mao Quan from Chung Hua Middle School No.3 also walked away with two titles, emerging victorious in the boys’ under-13 singles before partnering Ezra Liau Jih Loch from SMK Chung Hua to claim the doubles.
The fifth edition of the AJBC was organised by Allianz Malaysia Bhd and supported by Badminton Association of Malaysia and the Education Ministry’s sports, co-curricular and arts division.
The AJBC, which does not require any entry fees from the players, has become among the most popular and anticipated junior events in the country in just five years.
This year’s AJBC features a total of 10 qualifying rounds followed by the grand finals in Kuala Lumpur.
