THE annual journalling event CzipVillage, by CzipLee, drew 4,000 visitors to The Venue @ ONE Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur.
Themed “You Are The Living Archive”, the event saw 63 stationery and journalling vendors from across South-East Asia exhibiting their artisan and handcrafted designs.
Food and beverage vendors provided attendees with delightful baked goods, coffee, gelato and chocolates.
CzipLee is a Malaysian family-owned bookstore and stationery retailer founded in 1968.
Its executive director Alvin Chen said CzipLee continued to strengthen its position as one of the region’s most popular creative analogue events for people, pen and paper.
“We were hesitant to roll out CzipVillage given the overall cautious economic sentiment.
“We surveyed business leaders and they said go ahead, Malaysians would save up and spend for curated experiential events.
“We’re glad we did. It held a special meaning for people to reconnect and slow down,” he said.
“We are proud to work with a network of like-minded small and medium enterprises that enable such community-driven events to be possible.
“It showcases the resilience and innovation of Malaysian businesses despite a challenging year,” said Chen.
This year’s edition was supported by key sponsors and brand partners, including Oatbedient and Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Bangsar.
Chen added, “We implemented ticketing this year at RM10 per entry. Children below 12 entered for free.
“Ticketing allowed us to manage crowd flow better.
“We had feedback that customers could now browse through the various aisles and interact with vendors more easily.
“The funds also went towards supporting sustainability, with AACE (Association of Art in Charity and Education) and Kawan Guni as our sustainability partner.
“We are improving as we curate each event. Community is at the centre of what we do.”
