TREE maintenance and trimming works are underway along Jalan Laman Putri 2 at Bandar Puteri Puchong, Selangor, as part of a wider effort to tackle overgrown trees in the area.
Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has approved a budget to carry out overall upkeep along the road, where specific species, including Khaya and wild trees, will be removed while the remaining flora is pruned.
Subang Jaya councillor Lee Jen Uyin said the intervention was necessary as the trees along the street had grown too large.
“The trees on this street are overgrown and we need to trim them,” she said, noting that work began on May 31.

The initiative along Jalan Laman Putri 2 is funded by a special RM5mil allocation dedicated to tree maintenance across several neighbourhoods.
According to Lee, the extensive exercise would also cover Jalan Wawasan 2/23, Jalan Wawasan 5/3, Taman Permainan Wawasan 1 to 3, Persiaran Wawasan, Persiaran Indera, Jalan Wawasan 2/3, Lebuh Puteri, Jalan Puteri 8/5, Jalan Puteri 8/7 and Jalan Puteri 7/2.
To facilitate the current tree-trimming operations, she said sections of Jalan Laman Putri 2 were closed to traffic, with cones placed along the route to alert motorists.
The closures will remain in place until the works are completed, which is expected by the end of November.
The ongoing exercise aims to improve safety for local residents and motorists, particularly in areas where overgrown branches obstruct the road or pose a hazard during severe weather.
