SS2 Park in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, will be filled with vibrant colours and rich aroma of the King of Fruits when the “Kampung Tunku x Dking Durian Sarong Run” returns on Aug 16.

The second edition, which aims to attract 2,000 participants, is a collaborative effort between Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei’s office and durian brand Dking.

The 5km charity fun run blends fitness with Malaysian heritage as the event requires participants to complete the course in traditional sarongs.

Proceeds from the run will go towards educational development at schools within the Kampung Tunku constituency.

The event is scheduled to run from 7am to 10am, with the official flag-off at 7.30am.

Registration is open until June 30 via RaceXAsia.com, with entry fees priced at RM55 for early birds and RM65 for normal registration, excluding platform provider charges.

The first 2,000 registered participants who complete the run will receive a free 300g pack of durian, supplied by Dking and Durella.

All participants will also receive an official event T-shirt, a finisher medal, a race bib and an e-certificate.

Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their most creative style and show their unique Malaysian spirit by styling their sarongs into bold, colourful, traditional, playful or completely out-of-the-box ways.

Best-dressed participants will stand a chance to win exciting prizes.

Partners of the sarong run – Foodpanda, Sunway Theme Parks and Hiestand – will also bring fun games, exciting prizes, durian pastries and exclusive goodies to the site.
