AMPANG Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) in Selangor has launched a series of enforcement sweeps to clear commercial areas of abandoned cars and unauthorised parking barriers.

In its latest operation, MPAJ enforcement officers moved against abandoned vehicles around the Taman Cempaka commercial area.

A total of 14 vehicles were issued notices, with six subsequently towed away.

Separate operations in Bandar Baru Ampang, Ampang Indah and Pandan Indah saw authorities acting against individuals placing objects to reserve public parking bays without permission.

The council reported 42 seizures alongside the issuance of 10 notices and 34 compounds.

A similar enforcement drive on April 2, in Pandan Perdana, recorded 20 seizures and 67 compounds for parking obstructions.

“This action was taken in accordance with existing legal provisions to address disruption to traffic flow and detract from the image of the area,” it said in a statement.

MPAJ stressed that such actions were aimed at ensuring fair access to public parking facilities, while preventing disruptions to businesses and traffic in busy commercial areas.

The council also reminded the public that placing objects to block parking spaces was an offence and could result in enforcement action.

It added that monitoring and enforcement efforts would continue from time to time to maintain a safe, orderly and harmonious environment for the community.

Complaints or feedback can be channelled through MPAJ’s Public Complaints Management System (Sispaa) or the council’s toll-free line at 1-800-22-8100.
