SINCE 2023, various community initiatives have been carried out in the Sungai Buloh cons-tituency funded by its MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan’s salary and allowances.
The Human Resources Minister said a total of RM800,000 was channelled to honour the promise he made to Sungai Buloh voters during the 15th General Election.
“This is not about the amount, but about responsi- bility. What was promised must be translated into consistent action,” he said.
Ramanan said the funds were channelled to those in need and to support community institutions, regardless of race and religion.
“So far this year alone, a total of RM65,200 has been disbursed to mosques, surau, temples, shrines and churches, in addition to Friday alms and special Ramadan contributions.
“The donations support organisational management, assist those in need and strengthen the spirit of unity within the local community.”
To further enliven the spirit of Ramadan, 10,000 servings of bubur lambuk were distributed throughout the constituency this year.
Now in its fourth year, the programme is among Ramanan’s ongoing initiatives to share blessings and engage with the local community.
In addition, various Ramadan programmes were organised through the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre in collaboration with government agencies, with an allocation of RM80,350.
These programmes included the provision of iftar meals, assistance to those in need and grassroots community engagement initiatives.
Ramanan noted the strength of a society lies in its sense of togetherness and empathy, particularly in facing current challenges.
“Ramadan teaches us the meaning of empathy and compassion. If we are in a position to help, it is my responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind,” he said.
In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the PKR vice-president also contributed 3,350 food baskets to B40 families to help ease the cost of living and enable them to prepare for the celebrations more comfortably.
