Water utility firm Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd shared Chinese New Year cheer with a charity home in Kuala Lumpur under its “Sesama Mara” community investment initiative.
The company lent a helping hand to Rumah Charis – Home for the Children, providing essential household items, kitchen supplies and cooking utensils.
Fourteen Air Selangor volunteers known as Hydro Heroes pitched in by putting up Lunar New Year decorations at the facility, which is home to 22 children.
They also hosted interactive games, led a ceremonial yee sang toss and distributed ang pow to residents.
Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Baseri said, “Through ‘Sesama Mara’, we aim to share the joy and warmth of the festive season with communities who may not otherwise have the opportunity to celebrate.
“Chinese New Year is a time to strengthen bonds, and programmes like this allow us to engage more meaningfully with communities in need, while reinforcing our commitment to the values of care, inclusivity and compassion.”
Last year, Air Selangor’s festive programmes reached 1,759 beneficiaries across 19 welfare homes and B40 communities, including orphans, single mothers, senior citizens and underprivileged families.
The initiative provides essential household items, food and activities during major events including National Day, Air Selangor’s anniversary and Christmas.
