VAPE business in Petaling Jaya, Selangor is now listed under the Trade, Business and Industrial (MBPJ) By-Law 2007, signifying that the operators will officially be charged a fee for the licence.
In a media statement, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) said such businesses would be charged a fee of not more than RM1,000 for the licence.
“Other businesses also newly included in the list are those running pet cafe, mini zoo, pet crematorium and animal memorial centre.”
This was among the 13 changes in the business guidelines and regulations in Petaling Jaya announced by MBPJ.
Of the changes, eight involved improvements of MBPJ’s statutory power and five were new guidelines.
The city council also said the inclusion of the stated businesses in the by-law was among three main changes made.
“MBPJ has also improved existing guidelines on the operating hours of entertainment and cyber centres, carwash, home-based online businesses, workshops in commercial areas, education activities, hiring of foreign workers for micro-entrepreneurs, and licence fees for advertisements.
“The first 500 night market licence holders switching to environmentally-friendly generators or portable battery power stations will receive a RM150 rebate, as part of MBPJ’s efforts to reduce sound pollution and support the low-carbon city agenda.
“This incentive will be implemented starting January next year.”
MBPJ said the new guidelines for pet crematoriums and animal memorial centres would also be implemented beginning January next year, with strict rules imposed relating to environment, safety, animal welfare, and public cleanliness.
“Next year, MBPJ will study ways to improve eight more areas of policies and guidelines related to permits for tables and chairs in public space, stalls on five-foot ways, vehicle workshops, restaurants beside workshops and pet shops, 24-hour gyms, and the uniform licensing of activities conducted within a single premises,” it said.
“MBPJ aims to process micro-entrepreneurs’ licence applications in 14 days.”
