Selangor MB: Bt Caves village's redevelopment will realign boundaries according to land titles

THE Kampung Indian Settlement in Batu Caves, Selangor, needs to be developed in a more organised manner because some of the houses have been built on road reserves, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a media statement, the Selangor Mentri Besar said there were 103 land titles, and some houses did not correspond to the lots stated.

“If this situation is allowed to continue without intervention, several issues will arise, including the lack of roads of appropriate width, complications in the transfer of ownership when land is sold, and flooding as the area does not have road buffers or basic drainage,” he explained.

It was reported that the Selangor government has allocated RM10mil for the redevelopment of the settlement to provide more comfortable housing and better infrastructure.

Amirudin said 44 houses needed to be vacated, and the affected residents have agreed to the main development, which involved the construction of a 2.5km road, during an engagement session that he chaired in the presence of the Gombak Land and District Office (PTD) and other relevant agencies.

"Among the matters that need to be resolved are the rental arrangements for affected residents during the development period after they vacate their houses," he said, "followed by the rebuilding of the houses in accordance with land title ownership."

“The state will provide aid to these 44 families to help ease the burden of rental costs during the construction of the road, drainage, road furniture and flood mitigation works," said Amirudin.

“The Gombak PTD has held discussions with Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, a company wholly owned by the Federal Government, regarding the building of comfortable homes with costs and payment mechanisms that are affordable to residents.

“This process will start after the Thaipusam celebration, out of respect for the preparations required for the festival and to allow sufficient time for residents,” he said.

He added that the Gombak PTD would coordinate the matter.
