Penang Crime Consciousness and Public Safety Society (CCPSS) has pledged to play a greater role in community safety efforts by strengthening unity among its members.
Newly elected CCPSS chairman Datuk Zainudin Ahmad said the society must move forward together and avoid internal discord.
“I urge all members to work together as one family and not turn against each other,” said the former Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) deputy director, who has 38 years of service in the police.
“What we want is unity and progress, so that our organisation will be recognised and respected not only in Penang but across the country.”
Zainudin said this at the society’s annual general meeting (AGM) held at a hotel in George Town.
He said that the executive committee would review and improve the society’s constitution, as there were some parts that were too brief or silent on certain matters.
“We will study what needs to be added or refined.
“If a proposal is beneficial to the society, we will implement it,” said Zainudin, adding that members could raise issues or suggestions in writing to be discussed at the executive level.
The AGM also saw Penang’s Honorary Consul of Brazil Datuk Annie Chin and Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang chapter chairman Datuk Tony Goh appointed as the society’s honorary presidents. — By LO TERN CHERN
