40 illegal factories in Kg Baru Sungai Buloh demolished in joint op

FORTY illegal factories and one house built on former Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) reserve land in Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, have been demolished in a joint operation on Tuesday (Nov 4).

According to Selangor Lands and Mines Office (PTGS) Enforcement, Land Acquisition and Technical Management Unit assistant director Muhammad Nadzirul Hafizie M Daud, the factories had been operating illegally for about 20 years.

He said the land was previously occupied under a Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL), which expired and was not renewed.

The occupants then continued to operate illegally on state land, he added.

About 400 personnel from 15 agencies, including the Selangor PTGS, police, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Air Selangor, TNB, National Water Services Commission of Malaysia (SPAN), the Civil Defence Department, as well as district and land offices across Selangor, took part in the operation.

Nadzirul said they expect to carry out site cleanup works from now until Friday (Nov 7).
