A “KNOWLEDGE CAPSULE” has been handed over to SJK (C) Ying Wah in Kapar, Selangor.
It’s a fancy name for a mini library cum multi-purpose activities pod designed to cultivate a love for reading and inspire lifelong learning.
The initiative marks EcoWorld Foundation’s third knowledge capsule project this year, following two similar mini libraries completed in other schools.
It had invested RM162,000 on the three projects.
The handover ceremony was attended by EcoWorld Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, SJK (C) Ying Wah headmaster Low Chee Xiang, its Board of Governors chairman Lim Teng Huat, Parent-Teacher Association chairman Lee Biau Gan and the school’s alumni association chairman Tan Cheng Yap.
A sum of RM42,000 was invested on the facility which took three weeks to complete.
Lam Thye said, “The knowledge capsule is more than just a library; it is a space where curiosity can flourish and students can discover the joy of reading.
“We hope it will encourage lifelong learning and nurture a strong reading culture within the school community.”
Designed as an open-concept learning pod, it features air- conditioning, floor-seating facilities and simple furnishing to create a cosy and inviting space for reading sessions, storytelling activities and student-led book-sharing events.
SJK (C) Ying Wah is one of several schools supported by the foundation under its Students Aid Programme, with 20 pupils from the school currently benefitting.
To date, the programme has assisted around 2,000 students nationwide.
