Plea for smart meters, TOU scheme in Negri Sembilan

Smart meters will help consumers use electricity more efficiently. — Filepic

I AM writing to express my disappointment regarding the unavailability of the Time of Use (TOU) scheme in Negri Sembilan, despite its implementation in other regions.

This innovative scheme aims to provide lower electricity tariff rates during off-peak hours, benefitting consumers who adapt their energy usage accordingly.

As a resident of Seremban, I find this lack of access particularly concerning, especially since many of us are looking to adopt greener practices such as electric vehicle (EV) ownership and charging at home.

During a recent visit to Kedai TNB to ask about the scheme, I was informed that it is not currently available in the Negri Sembilan state.

This news was disappointing, given that such a scheme would offer significant savings on my electricity bill while supporting sustainable energy use.

Additionally, I have expressed a desire to have a smart meter installed in my home to facilitate efficient electric vehicle charging.

However, without the scheme in place, the benefits of such a meter are diminished.

I urge TNB to expedite the implementation of the scheme here in Negri Sembilan and to prioritise the installation of smart meters for consumers who are committed to using electricity more efficiently.
