Indian diaspora mums gather for Mothers Day in Kuala Lumpur

an expatRIATE women’s group in Kuala Lumpur gathered to celebrate Mothers Day with great enthusiasm.

A total of 400 guests attended the event which was held at Shantanand Auditorium, Temple Of Fine Arts in Brickfields, where Indian women gathered to honour mothers.

Some 200 of them also showcased their stage talents.

“This celebration aimed to honour these lovely mothers, give them a break from their routine and let them enjoy themselves,” said event organiser Neena Agarwal.

Each mother was warmly welcomed by another mother and treated to an Indian breakfast.

The entertainment segment began with melodious Bollywood songs.

This was followed by performances reflecting nature’s colours, women empowerment, and classical dances portraying stories from Indian epics.

Modern dances such as hip-hop were also performed.

The event team strove to make the women feel extra special by sourcing plenty of gifts and vouchers as lucky draw prizes.

Neena said various production aspects such as talent, hard work and careful preparation came together on the day.

Adding to the celebration was a three-course lunch served at Annalakshmi Vegetarian Restaurant Kuala Lumpur.

A game of tambola and more action on the dance floor ensued.

Neena thanked the organising committee and performers, adding that everyone was inspired by a strong sense of community.
