PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) provided aid to the underprivileged, both children and adults.

Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon presented RM200 each to 25 underprivileged children and the hardcore poor during an event at Masjid Dato’ Haji Kamaruddin in Section 51A, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

“The contribution was to help them with preparations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” MBPJ’s Corporate Communications Unit said in a media statement.

“This programme also functions as a platform to strengthen the relationship between MBPJ and the local community.

“This was part of several welfare initiatives that the council had been carrying out throughout Ramadan.

“MBPJ previously reached out to several target groups through programmes such as presenting donations to the elderly and persons with disabilities, providing food baskets and organising spiritual talks for MBPJ staff,” the statement added.

Mohamad Zahri also presented a contribution of RM2,000 to the mosque’s administrator Farizuddin Aman to support its welfare efforts and community development.

Others present at the event were Petaling Jaya deputy mayor Aznan Hassan, MBPJ councillor Mohamed Hamka Mohamed Jumah and department heads.
