This Raya, Tropicana Foundation continued its 14-year tradition of bringing cheer to underprivileged communities across Malaysia.

Teaming up with corporate sponsors, the foundation staff distributed cash, food packs, drinks and dry goods worth more than RM86,000 to 7,900 recipients who included those in the B40 group, single mothers, old folks, orphans and people with disabilities.

The charity programme was made possible with support from Tropicana Corporation Bhd and seven of its subsidiaries.

These were Tropicana Metropark, Tropicana Gardens, Tropicana Aman, Tropicana Alam, Tropicana Cenang, Tropicana WindCity and Lido Waterfront Boulevard.

Tropicana group chief executive officer Datuk Mark Rozario said: “We wanted to bring cheer and provide some relief in their preparations for Hari Raya.”

He described how Tropicana employees had sourced, packed and handed out Raya care packs over seven weeks to various groups in the Klang Valley, Genting Highlands, Langkawi and Johor.

For the programme, Tropicana’s marketing and sales team worked with colleagues overseeing the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

These employees made personal trips to recipients’ homes.

“A clown balloonist was present to entertain the younger ones while a hairdresser offered hair-cutting services to the old folks.

“The Jeram assemblyman reached out to us to support its Raya B40 programme for 500 families residing there.

“Our management and team, alongside volunteers from Tropicana Foundation, personally delivered care packs, engaging with residents in their homes,” explained Rozario.

Tropicana’s Raya charity programme also reached out to 30 residents of Pusat Jagaan Darul Sakinah Angkasa, 120 residents of Rumah Ehsan Kuala Kubu Baru, 44 residents of Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim & Asnaf Kampung Sijangkang and 34 recipients of Pertubuhan Pengurusan Rumah Safiyyah.

A total of 90 single mothers, 100 motorists at the Gombak toll plaza and 5,000 people at Arena MBJB Larkin also benefitted from the programme.

Tropicana Golf & Country Resort also hosted 87 children and their guardians from three welfare homes to buka puasa events.
