Bakery brand rises ABOVE THE REST

Firming its position as Malaysia’s most trusted bakery brand, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd won two accolades at Putra Brand Awards 2024.

Standing out from 10 competitors, Gardenia took home the Platinum Award, the highest honour at the annual awards, in the Foodstuff category.

It also took home the coveted Putra Most Enterprising Brand of the Year award at the ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.

Determined by Malaysian consumers through a nationwide survey, the results reflect the brand’s strong presence in households and its reputation for quality, innovation and reliability.

Receiving the Platinum Award on behalf of Gardenia, chief executive officer Koh Chin Huat expressed gratitude for customers’ support.

“Gardenia has always been about more than just baking bread – we are part of Malaysian households.

“This award reflects our consumers’ trust in us, inspiring us to continue with quality and innovation,” said Koh.

Since its establishment in Malaysia, Gardenia has become a household staple throughout generations.

The bakery brand was also bestowed with the Putra Most Enterprising Brand of the Year award – a prestigious honour given to only one brand each year.

This recognises brands that have shown exceptional market expansion through innovation, strategic marketing efforts, impactful initiatives in corporate social responsibility, brand-building consistency and excellent product development.

The selection process involves the Putra Brand Awards committee shortlisting outstanding local brands, with the final winner chosen by the award’s board of governors.

Chief operating officer Derrick Khoo, who was on hand to receive the Putra Most Enterprising Brand of the Year trophy, spoke of Gardenia’s dedication to excellence during an interview with The Star TV.

“It means a lot to Gardenia because it is in our philosophy to always want to give back to the country.

“And, being one of the most prestigious bakery brands in the country, we always want to give consumers the best,” he added.

Gardenia’s success lies in its balance of tradition and modernity.
