Subang Jaya MPP takes home RM26,500 for various initiatives
SUBANG Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Zone 4 councillor Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim has much to celebrate.
He led his team to the Overall Best Residents Representative Council (MPP) Award 2024 at an MBSJ awards ceremony, along with six other first-place wins and a second-place prize in another category.
Kamarul said although this was the fifth time MPP Zone 4 had won the overall award, this year they scored first place in more categories.
“Previously, even though we were the overall champions, we only secured first place in one category,” he said at the awards ceremony held in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
He attributed the success to strictly adhering to the criteria set by MBSJ’s Community Development Department.
“Every three months, my MPP and I hold a meeting to review which programmes have not been implemented according to the criteria,” said Kamarul.
“I also frequently share advice with other councillors pursuing these awards: follow the criteria precisely.
“This year, I went the extra mile by creating a report book for each category to track our progress,” he added.
A total of eight categories were contested, including Best MPP Community Programme, Best MPP Administrative Management Award, Best Green Neighbourhood Award, Best MPP Environmental Programme, Best Innovative MPP Award as well as Apartment and Adopted Village Community Empowerment Programme Award.
Winners in each category received cash prizes of RM2,500 for first place, RM1,500 for second place and RM1,000 for third place.
Winners also received a plaque and certificate of appreciation.
The Overall Best MPP Award carried a grand prize of RM10,000.
A total of 24 MPP zones competed in each category.
MPP Zone 4, under Kamarul’s leadership, secured first place in seven out of eight categories, earning RM26,500 in total.
The only category they missed out on was Best Innovative MPP Award, which went to MPP Zone 7.
The award was accepted by Zone 7 councillor Mohd Tarmizi Lazim.
In a statement, MBSJ said the award aimed to recognise the commitment and cooperation demonstrated by MPPs, while also motivating them to remain dedicated in carrying out their responsibilities.
Also present were Subang MP Wong Chen, Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng, Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki, Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi, Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim and deputy mayor Zulkurnain Che Ali.
