Kiwanis Club of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (KCTTDI) and Books For A Better World (BFBW) have partnered for the third year running to bring Christmas cheer to underprivileged children.

This year’s “Donate A Book, Share A Story” event took place at Tropicana Gardens Mall (TGM) in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

The event saw 40 children and teachers from refugee school The Assembly Learning Centre being treated to a day filled with joy.

The children overcame their initial shyness to sing Christmas carols, with guests at the shopping mall cheering and singing along to encourage them.

Guests included Selangor princess Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Puan Sri Christine Khir Johari, TGM managing director Andrew Ashvin and BFBW chief executive officer Adrian Ung.

Event highlights included gifts for the children such as books and musical gift boxes as well as treats such as carousel rides, backpacks, stationery sets, lunch, popcorn, drinks and a screening of Moana 2.

Starting January 2025, BFBW and KCTTDI will distribute 1,000 books to homes, shelters and communities across the Klang Valley, continuing their mission to promote literacy and foster hope.

“We hope to spark the imagination of these children and inspire them to dream of a brighter future,” said Ung.
