Volunteers make over charity home for Deepavali

AS Deepavali symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, a gaming company’s staff volunteers set out to brighten up the lives of residents at Pusat Jagaan Anbe Sivam in Klang, Selangor.

Da Ma Cai volunteers improved living conditions at the home by repainting its hall, infusing the communal space with new life and making it bright and welcoming.

In addition, the company donated a range of items including electrical appliances, groceries, toiletries and stationery, as well as RM5,000 worth of shopping vouchers for the purchase of additional necessities for the festivities.

The Deepavali initiative reflected Da Ma Cai’s dedication to uplifting marginalised communities, the company said in a media release.

It is also part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility by encouraging employees to engage in volunteer work.

A representative said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to come together in spreading Deepavali joy and lend a helping hand to the home.

“Our Staff-in-the-Community programme allows us to not only provide material assistance but also foster connections with the residents, making a positive difference in their lives and ours too.”

Founded in 2004, Pusat Jagaan Anbe Sivam is a charity home that cares for underprivileged children, special needs individuals, single mothers and elderly residents.

Currently, the facility houses 23 individuals.

The home’s founder, K. Muthurajah said, “The support from Da Ma Cai has brought immense joy to our residents.

“The freshly painted hall and generous donations will make a lasting impact on the quality of life here.”
