Klang's high tide situation under control, no major incidents reported

PETALING JAYA: The high tide phenomenon along Klang’s coast is currently under control, and no major incidents have been reported.

Klang District Disaster Management Committee chairman Amri Ismail said there had been no flooding incidents as of 10.40am.

“There are no reports of flooding incidents or severe situations. The situation is still okay and under control,” he told StarMetro.

A check found that water levels were ankle-deep at the Port Klang jetty, but the waters receded quickly.

The Klang District Disaster Operations Centre (DDOC) issued a tidal and rainfall schedule following the high tide phenomenon, which was predicted to last until Saturday (Sept 21).

The sea level reading for Saturday was predicted to be 5.6 metres at 7.56am, and the water level is expected to reach five metres at 8.11pm.

The Sabak Bernam District Council has also notified the public that Pantai Batu 23 in Sungai Nibong is closed for safety reasons.

It issued a warning that swimming, fishing, camping and trading activities were prohibited from Sept 19 to 21, during the high tide.

The Klang DDOC can be contacted at 03-3371 6700 or via WhatsApp at 010-973 1963.
