Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) is hoping to get help from elected representatives to establish branches throughout Sarawak.

Its state director Mohtar Samad said it would try to establish branches in all districts.

“Currently, the Civil Defence Force only has 32 administrative offices in Sarawak.

“I hope that elected representatives can help convey our intent to those in charge,” he said at the presentation of certificates to honorary/associated officers Sarawak State Civil Defence Force Central Zone 2024.

“We also appoint associate officers as a sign of appreciation to those who have given us support and contributed, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic,” added Mohtar.

A total of 66 recipients were awarded medals at the ceremony.

Among the recipients were state Deputy Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Sibu MP Oscar Ling and Tanjong Manis MP Yusof Abdul Wahab.

Sibu District Civil Defence Force officer Major (PA) Wan Mohd Jabir Wan Mohd Badrudin was also present.
