Mobile app for road-related complaints

Johor government will be developing a mobile app allowing the public to lodge road-related complaints, says state executive councillor Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh (pic).

The state works, transportation, infrastructure and communication committee chairman said the system would make it easier for the public to alert the authorities on road matters.

“Currently, if anyone has a complaint, he or she must go through different channels, depending on which departments or concession companies are involved.

“These complaints are sent directly to the relevant parties but the state government does not have access to them.

“As such, we are unable to monitor whether a complaint has been addressed,” he told StarMetro.

With the system, Mohamad Fazli said the state government would be able to monitor the status of the complaint resolution, including whether measures were being taken to address the matter.

“This means that if a person sees a pothole, he or she could just take photos and file a complaint through the system,” he said.

“The relevant parties will be alerted about the complaint so that action can be taken.

“At the same time, the state government will be able to monitor and ensure that action is taken in a timely manner,” he reiterated.

Mohamad Fazli said the development of the system was among measures undertaken to improve digital literacy while also making life easier for Johor residents.

“We will start with roads first, and if everything runs smoothly, we will consider including other things, such as water and electricity.”

He added that the state government aimed to develop the app soon and to have it operational this year.
