SOME 500 pupils of a Tamil school in Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor Baru in Johor, are now able to enjoy a more conducive learning environment with help from a local leader.

SJK (T) Ladang Mount Austin Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) chairman K. Kahnthan said the school upgraded its classrooms after receiving a RM150,000 allocation through Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse.

“The school was built over a decade ago and is in dire need of an upgrade, especially the floors.

“There are holes in the floors of some of the classrooms that have been left for years.

“The allocation has allowed us to fix the floors, giving pupils and teachers a more conducive and comfortable learning environment,” he said.

He expressed thanks to Puah for his assistance and support, as it had allowed the school to have its first major renovation since its establishment.

Kahnthan said the school started renovation works in February this year and it was completed about a month later.

“The Tebrau MP visited the school in February last year and witnessed the critical condition of the floors.

“He then brought the matter up to the Federal Government and secured the much-needed funds for the school.

“This allowed us to renovate the floors in all 12 classrooms, along with three special rooms – a science room, an art room and a room for design and technology,” he added.

Kahnthan also thanked those who had ensured the project was completed successfully.

“This project would not have been successful without the hard work and dedication from all parties, including parents and teachers.

“With the new floors, we hope that pupils will be more motivated and eager to learn,” he said. — By VENESA DEVI
