Exhibition in the works on Bukit Assek redevelopment

AN exhibition on the Bukit Assek Redevelopment Project in Sibu, Sarawak is being planned, says Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng (pic).

He said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg had agreed to the exhibition once the masterplan was finalised by year-end.

Speaking at his Bukit Assek media night, Chieng said the redevelopment plan would affect numerous properties and residents.

“I have recommended that the Land Custody & Development Authority organise an exhibition, perhaps at shopping centres, to explain the project and gather feedback,” he said.

On the project’s progress, he said the cloudburst masterplan study on flooding would be available by May.

Chieng said the government was steadfast in its commitment to the project in Bukit Assek, which he described as covering 1,228ha and swampy.

The Bukit Assek redevelopment plan will be private-sector driven in line with Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030.
