WORKS to repair a faulty expansion joint on a Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) flyover linking Kepong with Sri Damansara are expected to be completed in four weeks.

According to Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Pua Pei Ling, the Public Works Department (JKR) is expected to disburse RM33,000 for the project on Jalan Kuala Selangor within this week.

She said this during a site visit with personnel from JKR and Works Ministry yesterday.

Pua said she had forwarded complaints received from motorists about the faulty joint, to Petaling JKR in February.

“JKR tried to patch up the affected spot but it caused a small bump to form on the road surface.

“This is contributing to traffic congestion as motorists have to slow down when approaching the spot,” she said.

The stretch is also known to locals as Jalan Kepong-Kuala Selangor.

Pua expressed hope that repairs could be completed before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

On a related matter, the assemblyman said a study would be conducted by JKR on ways to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. The MRR2 also links to Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) and Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE).

“I have received many complaints from parents who send their children to school in this area.

“The area used to be congested only during peak hours but now, it is jammed throughout the day.

“JKR will study traffic flow and identify bottlenecks,” she added.

Pua also raised concern about the lack of drains along roads in the flood-prone area.

“Several lanes become inaccessible during a downpour, worsening congestion,” she added.
