FIRST City University College unveiled its Sequence 2024 showcase at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya.

This graduation showcase hosted by First City’s Faculty of Design, Built and Environment displayed the outstanding projects of graduating students from various disciplines, including BA (Honours) in Graphic Design, BA (Hons) Furniture and Product Design, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, and BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing.

Sequence 2024, unlike traditional graduation showcases, provided a platform for projects of professional calibre, crafted by aspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts.

Esteemed guests who attended the launch included First City University College vice-chancellor Prof Dr Saw Sor Heoh, Genre Associates director and Malaysian Institute of Interior Design (MIID) council member Christine Rowland, along with industry partners.

Saw, in her welcome speech, commended the Faculty of Design and Built Environment for orchestrating the showcase’s successful 22nd edition.

She spoke of the faculty’s dedication to excellence as well as the accolades and achievements earned by both students and faculty members.

She highlighted the MIID Student Saturday event in November last year, in which students clinched multiple awards, including gold, silver, bronze and honourable mentions, as evidence of students’ calibre and the faculty’s commitment to excellence.

Rowland, representing the MIID, inaugurated the showcase and congratulated the students for creating inspiring projects.

She said that she hoped MIID would maintain active engagement and foster the growth of First City University College students into professional designers.

She also encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning as a crucial element for staying relevant in the dynamic industry.

The event featured the SQ 2024 Showreel – an introduction to the graduates’ work.

The event highlights included a fashion show, where models showcased the pieces created by the graduating Fashion Marketing students.
