A HEARTWARMING charity event brings joy and festive cheer to the children of the Myanmar Refugee Community Learning Centre (MRCLC).

Dubbed the “Spread Joy, Share Love: Unwrap Your Wish”, the event organised by Yayasan MR DIY aimed to create lasting memories for the young residents of the centre.

In a joyful two-hour celebration at MR DIY PLUS Mid Valley Megamall, 25 children, five teachers and special guests, including Datuk Seri Loo Chong Peng from the board of trustees of Yayasan MR DIY, MR DIYCares volunteers and Soroptimist International Damansara (SID) volunteers, gathered to join Santa Claus at the event.

The Christmas party was filled with fun activities that made it one to remember for the children.

They enjoyed the jingling ball activity, followed by a lively Christmas dance and roll the bottle game.

The highlight of the event was certainly Santa Claus distributing gifts tailored to the children’s wishlist, creating much excitement. The event ended with warm goodbyes, leaving everyone with a lasting holiday spirit.

Commenting on the initiative, Yayasan MR DIY’s chief executive officer Zaleha Mohd Mydin said: “As we celebrate the magic of Christmas, our hearts are filled with warmth and joy at the opportunity to share this special occasion with the children of Myanmar Refugee Community Learning Centre.

“Through the initiative we aim to create cherished moments and leave a lasting impact on the children.

“As a foundation, this event reflects our commitment to community engagement and the belief that together we can make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

“Our gratitude extends to all participants, volunteers and partners who contributed to make this celebration truly magical.”

Zaleha also thanked SID, which generously sponsored the transportation for the children, ensuring a seamless journey to the venue.

Yayasan MR DIY focuses on environmental protection, health, capacity-building and nurturing arts and culture.

Established in June 2023, the foundation is committed to making a positive impact for all Malaysians.
