Run against drug addiction at Lake Gardens on Dec 16

The Art of Living organisation is holding its Run of Champions on Dec 16 at Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.

The 3km fun run is designed to unite Malaysians against the scourge of drug addiction.

This is to address the alarming rise in issues related to mental health and substance abuse.

There has been a recent surge in drug-related incidents and an unprecedented increase in suicide cases among adolescents.

Malaysia has become a prime target for drug traffickers and even the fear of severe penalties has not been able to curb the distribution and use of dangerous drugs in the country.

It has been reported that over 60,000 adolescents between 13 and 17 are currently using drugs.

An 81% surge in suicide cases has also been observed, with the numbers rising from 631 in 2020 to an alarming 1,142 cases.

The prevalence of depression cases has also jumped from 20.9% to 59.2%, and anxiety from 32.3% to 55.1%.

As part of the Art of Living’s commitment to positive change, the organisation is holding the Run of Champions aimed at bringing together Malaysians from all walks of life to support the fight against drug addiction.

The organisation invites all individuals to join this cause.

Participants under 16 years old require an adult to accompany them.

The registration fee is RM30 per participant, and participants will receive goodie bags, wristbands and specially designed T-shirts by Datuk Bernard Chandran.

The fun run commences at 7am, with registration scheduled at 6.30am.
