1,800 participants compete in five categories at annual dragon boat race in Penang

AFTER two days of fun-filled action, the Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta 2023 ended on a high note, leaving the best of the best standing tall.

Participants from different countries competed in this test of teamwork, determination and discipline, and enjoyed the camaraderie.

The rowers’ spirited display and overall competitiveness bore testament to the event’s success in instilling passion and commitment to the sport.

This year’s event drew 60 teams from 14 countries, which was larger than the 42 teams from seven countries last year.

A total 1,800 participants took part in five categories this year at the regatta venue at the Teluk Bahang Dam.

The event was graced by Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, who was on hand to give away the prizes.

Also present was state tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.
