MUSIC lovers can enjoy a wide selection of tuneful offerings in the Klang Valley and beyond.

With a host of musicians available, there is pretty much something for everyone, from rock and pop to blues, jazz and everything else.

Merdekarya celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and continues to serve up great vibes. Tonight, explore the sounds of punk rock with Johny23 taking the stage. Tomorrow night, the outlet is closed for a private function but the fun continues next Wednesday when Brian Gomez is back with more original tunes for music lover. Next Thursday, singer-songwriter Keith Kamalaraj is in the house, while next Friday night, Iris serenades the crowd with some indie alternative vibes. Next Saturday will be a groovy night with Bedlam City serving up some original funk punk. On Oct 19, rebel rocker Azmyl Yunor is back for more shenanigans on stage. No cover charge but a minimum tip of RM10 for the musicians is expected.

Great vibes, good food and a selection of original cocktails make this nifty outlet in Petaling Jaya a great place to chill, and not just after dark! Musical magic happens twice a week here, with an extra special Sunday afternoon session from 3pm to 7pm. It’s a great time to just chill for an afternoon with the sounds of Sharin going solo with his acoustic. On Wednesday evenings, Victor sets the tone from 6pm onwards.

While originally starting off as sports bars, the two H&A The Original outlets, one in Sri Hartamas and the other in TTDI, now offer up more fun for those looking for a break after a long day at work. From next Wednesday, get your thinking caps on as Quizmaster Ram brings his challenge to H&A The Original. He’ll be alternating between the venues every Wednesday, with things kicking off next week in TTDI. There’s also a pool table available and some great grub as well as great deals on drinks to enjoy. The owners are also making plans to liven up Sundays with musical offerings in the near future, having already hosted the likes of singer-songwriter Priscilla Xavier on a few occasions. An elegant venue in the heart of the city, Jao Tim absolutely drips with old world charm but also serves up an interesting array of offerings. Now also stepping up as an events space, the outlet gives life to a whole new set of musical offerings that are just that much different to stand out. Tonight, Irma & Friends get into the groove of R&B Soul while tomorrow night, it’s the House of Kenyalang featuring Clinton, Pete & Jazper presenting a little bit of pop, soul, R&B and more. Next Wednesday, Izen Kong and Dennis Law team up for a Table Lamp Concert focusing on ballads, musicals, pop and R&B. Disney fans are in for a treat on Oct 15, with a stellar line-up of Angie Cheah, Anais, Clinton, David Soh, Elvira Arul, Joshua Gui and Ronnie celebrating 100 years of Disney from the stage. Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur plays host to a trio of musical acts nightly at its Xroads Lounge for a great time after dark. Local act RS Duo, comprising Sarah Olivar Fajilan and Richard Liew, start things off with a selection of easy-listening numbers and current hits for a relaxed evening out. Things get livelier later on with Beat Culture taking the stage for some great vibes from the 1970s and 1980s. Lastly, Xroads also plays host to True Blue, a five-piece outfit comprising both Malaysian and Filipino talents who present everything from rock and soul to disco, R&B and Motown. Tomorrow night, Michelle Nunis is back on the Bobo stage with “Simply the Best” as she pays tribute to the late great Queen of Rock’n’Roll Tina Turner. Midweek comedy magic is back at Bobo next Thursday, with Rizal van Geyzel teaming up with Kavin Jay for some “Crowd Control” for one night only. Another familiar name for fans of live music in Petaling Jaya, the Hangover offers a wide selection of everything from R&B and retro to blues and rock. On Friday nights, explore the sounds of the 1980s with the Union reunion taking the stage to entertain. On Sunday nights, it’s a whole lot of fun as Julian Mokhtar welcomes everyone to sing, and play, along with T-Jam sessions.

Originally making its presence felt in TREC KL, Simply Jazz by Tin Box has moved to Publika for a whole new groove. A breath of fresh air for jazz fans in the suburbs who’ve long had to make the trek deep into the heart of the city to get their kicks. Tonight and tomorrow night, pianoman Michael Veerapen is back on the groove with Junji Delfino singing out strong from the stage. Next Saturday, the Frankie Sixes, led by Reza Salleh, will be in the house for some great bopping times.
