MBSA nets over 5,000 crows in city

A CROW-shooting operation organised by Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) at various locations in the city culled over 5,000 birds.

“A total of 63 council staff members took part and managed to shoot 5,065 crows during the one-day operation,” said MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division head Shahrin Ahmad in a media statement.

“This operation is an initiative by the council to reduce the crow menace.

“The crows’ habit of rummaging for food through rubbish bins and garbage disposal areas is a nuisance and has led to many complaints from the public.”

The city council hoped that the public in Shah Alam would cooperate by maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces, especially in terms of garbage disposal and management to prevent the crow population from increasing.

The crow operation involved MBSA staff from the council’s Environmental Health Department as well as enforcement personnel from its Sungai Buloh, Setia Alam and Kota Kemuning branch offices.

Police officers were also on hand during the operation to monitor the safety aspects.
