Petaling Jaya residents will now be able to book their slots at the city council’s sporting facilities online, says Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran.

He revealed this while attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by traders of the Section 17 farmers’ market on Jalan 17/1a.

The MyPJ Tempah booking system is parked under the eMBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) online system.

The eMBPJ system allows users to settle council bills, apply for business licences, lodge complaints, submit tenders and even check the latest editions of books at the community library.

The facility booking portal can be found under the “Services” category in the “Public facilities” section.

“In the past, residents had to physically go to the counter if they wanted to book any of the council’s facilities available for public use.

“Now, all the available time slots for halls, fields, stadiums as well as courts for games like tennis, futsal, squash and basketball will be conveniently at their fingertips,” said Rajiv.

Bookings for the facilities are secured via payment made through debit or credit cards.

Encouraging residents in Petaling Jaya to make use of the online booking portal, Rajiv said the system was available on the web as well as mobile app.

At the open house, guests were treated to rice, lamb curry, turmeric fried chicken and fish curry cooked by the traders themselves.

Pasar Tani Section 17 Petaling Jaya chairman Zainal Abidin Ali Seman, 56, said the traders had made it a tradition to hold open houses during festive seasons for the past six years.

“We cook and invite our customers.

“We do it to show appreciation for their support,” said Zainal.

To fund such events, a weekly contribution of RM5 is collected from each trader for a year.

There are currently 60 stalls at the morning market.

Open houses are usually held twice a year, on Hari Raya and Malaysia Day.
