Water level still adequate at two main dams

DESPITE the hot spell, water at two main dams in Perak are still at an adequate level, says Perak Water Board (LAP) general manager Datuk Ishak Abd Rahman.

He said the dams under LAP’s supervision – Sultan Azlan Shah Dam in Ulu Kinta and Air Kuning Dam in Taiping – were filled to the brim.

“So far, the dams under LAP are at maximum level.

“In Perak, there has been no significant impact and it all depends on weather conditions,” he told Bernama.

In Penang, its Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chief executive officer K.Pathmanathan said cloud seeding operations had been scheduled to fill up two water catchment areas as levels were dropping day by day.

He was quoted as saying that water capacity at the Air Itam dam dropped to 44.8% compared from 46.1% while the Teluk Bahang dam recorded a decrease from 49.8% to 48.6% in April.
