ANGLERS can take part in the “Cabaran Joran Ampang Jaya 2023” fishing competition this Sunday to win attractive prizes.
The competition will take place at Tasik Pandan Perdana in Pandan Perdana, Ampang.
Some 1,000 anglers are expected to participate.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said this was the first fishing competition organised by the council in more than 15 years.
“The last fishing programme we had was in 2005.
“We also decided to have it at this lake to promote Tasik Pandan Perdana as an ecotourism location in Ampang Jaya and to revive the area,” he said, adding that the event was in collaboration with Zone 21 residents’ committee.
In view of the competition, 250kg of ikan patin (striped catfish) was released to add to the catfish and tilapia already in the lake.
The prize money totals RM17,000 The top winner will take home RM5,000 while the first and second runners-up will win RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.
There are consolation prizes, too.Anglers can also look forward to a lucky draw offering a 40-inch television and fishing equipment among prizes.
For a RM40 fee, participants will get a fishing rod, while the first 500 registered anglers receive a T-shirt.
