SOME 60 vulnerable children will get a chance to train under a football programme organised by the Education Ministry and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO).
The programme’s main contributor is mobile virtual network operator redONE Network Sdn Bhd (redONE).
At the launch of the programme, redONE said it aimed to improve the lives of the children by giving them hope for a better future through such training.
The progamme is a collaboration between the Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, ICESCO as well as Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS).
For this initiative, redONE will provide sports equipment such as football jersey sets, boots, backpacks, footballs, bibs and other basic necessities to ensure the children have what it takes to bring out their best performance.
“RedONE is proud to be part of this initiative to empower these children to succeed in life by first rehabilitating them to become more socially integrated.
“Through football, it will help them build trust, hope and self-confidence while leading a healthy lifestyle,” said its chief executive officer Farid Yunus at the launch ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, ministry deputy director-general (school operation sector) Dr. Norisah Suhaili, secretary-general Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof, redONE chief operating officer Tee Yew Yaw and chief sales officer Ben Teh Beng Hock.
Farid also took the opportunity to announce three unique redONE plans aimed at giving back to society.
