Rotary International has honoured Datuk Dr Musa Mohd Nordin (pic) for his active involvement in humanitarian and refugee relief work for over three decades.
The award recognises community leaders who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service while working with the organisation.
Rotary Malaysia immediate past governor Datuk Bindi Rajasegaran presented the award to Dr Musa on behalf of Rotary International in Ipoh, Perak.
Also present were representatives from 13 Perak Rotary Clubs.
In her speech, Bindi mentioned that Dr Musa, a clinical professor of paediatrics at KPJ International University College, was a renowned paediatrician and neonatologist.
In 2014, Dr Musa founded the Imam Response and Relief Team (Imaret) – powered by the Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia (Imam) – providing humanitarian aid relief to any disaster and outreach programmes for marginalised communities.
Dr Musa also founded Rumah Solehah, a shelter for women and children living with HIV/AIDS and is an on-call paediatrician to OrphanCare, an NGO that set up Malaysia’s first baby hatch.
In 2020, Imaret won the Star Golden Hearts Award.
He was also honoured with the Outstanding Asian Paediatrician Award in 2012 by the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Association and the Lifetime Achievement award from the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations in Turkey.
Last September, Dr Musa received the Outstanding Public & Healthcare Services Award 2022 from the Malaysian Medical Association.
